In the land of Sugar and Spice and all things nice, lives the Queen of Candy. It costs the fairy lots of money, whenever a child has a wobbly tooth that ends up under their pillow. The Queen is not helping matters…
The Tooth Fairy was counting her pennies. If the truth was known, she was not a very generous person really. She was quite miserly as a matter-of-fact.
Anyway, the fairy needed a plan because her magic wand was not as strong as that of the Queen’s. There was something new coming to the kingdom today. Chocolate growing trees. Of course, it is all very well having a small piece of chocolate now and again, or a nice mouthful of Turkish delight, maybe the odd chewy sweet, just so long as you brush your teeth well. At least two times a day, preferably three, fairy thinks. She only likes to pay you for milk teeth.
What on earth was the Queen of Candy thinking? Chocolate hanging from tree branches was quite absurd. Why, people will eat chocolate all day long, if it is just there looking at them. My, oh my, the Tooth Fairy was all in a panic. What was she going to do?
Suddenly, there was a loud blowing of trumpets, meaning an announcement was going to be made.
‘Gather round, gather round, everyone,’ called the town crier.
‘Her Majesty, the Queen of Candy would like you all here for the planting of the new trees. That is because, you are going to plant them. Grab a shovel and follow me.’ The town crier jumped down from his soap box and led the way.
Off everybody went, following behind in a big line. The fairies, witches, goblins, princes and princesses, clowns, jugglers and cooks. All were expected to lend a helping hand.
‘Follow me, hurry up now,’ shouted the town crier. He had a very loud voice for such a short man. All the people behind him had to dawdle or they would all trip over each other.
It was nearly Christmas in the land of Sugar and Spice. The Christmas tree was very lovely. With shiny baubles and lots of candy canes hanging from the branches.
‘Tut, tut,’ muttered the Tooth Fairy. She hung some tubes of toothpaste on the branches as they scuttled past.
Who was going to help her? There was possibly only one person, and that would be the miserable man.
