Becoming Lili by Julia Blake

Becoming Lili by Julia Blake

Every now and then I read a book by a fellow Indie author and I have to shout about it! I have just read this and the sequel is due for release in September.

This is my 5* review and the links to the book. I thoroughly recommend this contemporary book.

Becoming Lili is an addictive read. I had to keep going until the end. The author Blake has mastered the art of creating such wonderful, believable characters and I will certainly move straight on to the next book.

Phyliss is a desperately lonely and unloved, unwanted child. Her parents only have eyes for each other and she remains in the background, shut out and unobserved. Things don't get any better for her at school, bullied and ridiculed constantly for her looks, demeanor, appearance. Life sucks for Phyliss in every way possible. When she stumbles across her parents making love on the sofa, unaware their daughter has been snowed off from school, everything changes.

The young girl hears things no child should hear from her mother's mouth as soon as her parents have finished having sex. Realising exactly how much she is despised, she pulls her coat and shoes back on and walks miles in the snow to her grandmother's house. The only person in the world who shows her love and affection.

Fast forwarding a few years and not spoiling the story, something happens to Phyliss one day, while out grocery shopping she sees the woman she wants to be. A beautiful vision who is everything Phyliss isn't, talking on her phone. The woman's name is Lili and from that moment on her future and that of everyone she meets and befriends will all change.

A totally addictive story-line from start to finish. Becoming Lili is a must read and I have found myself a bunch of new imaginary friends whose lives I simply must follow! Some adult content. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Becoming-Lili-Julia-Blake-ebook/dp/B07167WWH8
